This Privacy Policy describes HackerTrail’s policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of your information when you use the services, websites, and applications offered by HackerTrail (the “Services”). HackerTrail uses Personal Data we collect to provide Services, personalize content, remember information to help you efficiently access your account.

Information you directly provide to us: There are many occasions where you provide information that may enable us to identify you personally (“Personal Data”) while using the Services. The Personal Data we may collect from you is outlined in the table below.

Marketing and Communications Data

Your preferences in receiving marketing from us and our third parties and your communication preferences. If you correspond with us by email or messaging through the Services, we may retain the content of sucj messages and our responses.

Behavioral Data

Inferred or assumed information relating to your behavior and interests, based on your online activity. This is most often used for user segmentation.

Technical Data

Internet Protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, operating system and platform, webcam usage and other technology on the devices you use to access this website or use our services.

No Special Categories of Personal Data: We do not collect any “Special Categories of Personal Data” about you (this includes your religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, political opinions, information about your health etc.). We also do not collect any information about criminal convictions and offences.

HackerTrail Community

If you are a HackerTrail Community member, we may list your username on a dashboard if you participate in an online assessment, tournament, hackathon, webinar etc.

Potential Employers

If you are a potential candidate who has applied to a job with a potential employer, then your information can be shared with potential employers or tournament sponsors.

Service Providers

Our Service Providers provide us support for our Services including, for example, website and application development, hosting, maintenance, backup, storage, compliance services which may require them to access Personal Data about you.

Legal, Tax, Regulatory and Judicial Authorities

HackerTrail may disclose your Personal Data if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, audit, to address fraud, security or technical issues, or to protect our legal rights and interests.

API Users

A limited number of partners have API access to portions of the Website and Services.

In addition, Personal Data you choose to add to your profile will be available for public viewing based on the
HackerTrail Service you use, especially if it’s the Community platform. We will do our best to limit disclosure within
the Service, but we cannot promise no one else will see your information in the Service, nor do we control what
users who are allowed to see your information will do with it.

 

How long we store your Personal Data

We will retain your information as long as your account is active, or it is reasonably needed for the purposes set out in Usage of Data Collected unless you request that we remove your Personal Data. We will only retain your Personal Data for so long as we reasonably need to use it for these purposes unless a longer retention period is required by law or for regulatory purposes. This may include keeping your Personal Data after you have deactivated your account for the period of time needed for us to conduct audits, comply with legal obligations, demonstrate compliance with regulatory authorities, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

 

Access, Updating or Deleting your Data

You are entitled to know whether we hold information about you and, if we do, the type of information, the purposes for which we hold it, the possible recipients, or types of recipients, and to have access to that information and require it to be corrected if it is inaccurate. You can do this by sending us an email at support@hackertrail.com. Upon written request and within 30 days we will correct, delete and/or block personal information from further processing. We will retain your information as needed to provide you services and will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and/or enforce our agreements.

 

Processing and Storage of Data

The Data are processed and stored in the servers based in Singapore. Although we welcome users from all over the world, by accessing the Services and providing us with your Personal Data, you consent to and authorize the export of Personal Data to Singapore and its storage and use as specified in this Privacy Policy. Note the laws of Singapore might not be as comprehensive or protective as laws in the country where you live.

Because the Services are maintained in Singapore, we do not transfer Personal Data from the EU to any parties located outside the EU. (European Union)

 

Security of your Personal Data

HackerTrail uses industry standard and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. We limit access to your Personal Data to those employees and other staff who have a business need to have such access. All such people are subject to a contractual duty of confidentiality. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to HackerTrail or guarantee that your information on the Services may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by a breach of any of our physical, managerial, or technical safeguards.

We have put in place procedures to respond to any actual or suspected Personal Data breach. In the event that personal information is compromised as a result of such breach of security, HackerTrail may promptly notify those persons whose personal information has been compromised by sending an email to you.

HackerTrail cannot ensure that your Personal Data will be protected, controlled or managed pursuant to this Privacy Policy if you share your login and password or OTP information with any third party operating a website or providing other services.

 

Links to Other Websites

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Services. The Services may contain links to other websites not operated or controlled by HackerTrail. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or opinions expressed in such websites and these websites are not monitored or checked for accuracy or completeness by us. Please remember that when you use a link to go from the Services to another website, our Privacy Policy is no longer in effect.

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Privacy Policy at any time.
