Lead Business Analyst


Job Description

The role will sit in the Tech Delivery & Operations team where the role itself is wide ranging and challenging in that it encompasses both team management and Business Analysis skills.

The successful candidate will need to liaise with the business to understand requirements and be able to translate these into technical specification for developers whilst maintaining a view across all domains and business analysts on the ground and providing direction and support where needed. You will follow agile practices driving the delivery within the team and working with the Chief Product Owners to ensure timely delivery of features and requirements

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead a group of Business Analysts and assist them with any specific challenges whilst helping them in direction and growth of their skills and domain knowledge whilst taking on projects yourself
  • Establishing and facilitating the BA forum will be a key part of the role. Ensuring that the analyst community have a regular place for discussion and collaboration on best practice
  • Gathering, validating and documenting business requirements
  • Modelling business processes and identifying opportunities for process improvements
  • Identifying issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outlining business impacts
  • Creating functional specifications for solutions
  • Simplifying information and deciphering technical jargon so it is easily understood by the whole team
  • Assisting with the implementing and testing of solutions
  • Assist in quality control, encourage best practices, project and delivery management towards stakeholder satisfaction
  • Act as a key point of contact between the Business, Compliance and IT
  • Coordinate with various IT organizations to implement business solutions


In order to be successful at this role, you must have the following:


  • 10+ years of overall experience with a significant portion of this experience in being a hands-n Business Analyst as well as leading other BAs
  • Ability to efficiently manage stakeholders within a challenging business environment
  • Ability to adapt to change and a fast-paced environment, evolving the change solution ensuring delivery of flexibility and agility
  • Experience with knowledge management strategies to ensure that our documentation is easily traceable throughout the development lifecycle (from concept through to deployment into production)
  • Experience with facilitating discovery workshops. Driving pilots and proof of concepts with customers
  • Critical thinker - the ability to understand and analyse problems and find solutions
  • Problem solver - the ability to think creatively and work collaboratively with teams to solve business challenges
  • Decision maker - the ability to make decisions around things such as requirement prioritisation, scope, assessing viability of solutions etc
  • Industry experience in a FinTech/Start Up, as well as in a large retail bank.

Role Specific Technical Competencies


  • Experience working in agile environment is key
  • Experience working on Cloud projects – preferably on AWS
  • Experience on these technologies – Java, Spring Boot
